A+ Arts Academy

We provide a safe, yet challenging elementary and junior high school education
for students - Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Junior High School Electives

In addition to mathematics, language arts, social studies and science, A+ Arts Academy offers a wide variety of elective courses including: financial literacy, health, journalism, desktop publishing, life skills, physical education and technology.

Students at A+ Arts Academy explore the world of art through ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, computer graphics and animation, graphic design, drama, choir, band, dance, color guard, flags, and other means of artistic expression. A+ Arts Academy believes in the value of an arts-enhanced education.

Art Club

This class offers students who are serious about the visual arts, the opportunity to create and display artwork in a variety of media, including set design for theater productions, and graphic design for the Desktop Publishing elective.

A+ Arts Academy encourages students who are interested in learning the finer details of artistic production and presentation to sign up for this class.

Creative Writing

A+ Arts Academy offers a creative writing class that includes all forms of written artistic expression – poetry, short story writing, article writing, Haiku, novellas and other forms of writing. Outside reading will be required as well. This class offers our creative writers an outlet to develop and, if they wish, to share their creative writing gifts with others.

Students are encouraged to contribute their work to the school yearbook and collaborate with the Journalism class and Art Club.

Desktop Publishing

Students in desktop publishing and yearbook elective, will learn the ins and outs of publishing business-quality product through our computer network. They will also compile the photographic and written material for this year’s A+ Arts Academy Yearbook.

The desktop publishing and yearbook students will work closely with the journalism class, which is responsible for publishing the school’s newspaper. This is a serious responsibility, and the course is seeking students who are dedicated and committed to journalism publishing. You will learn page layout, graphic design, content development and editing.


The A+ Arts Academy continues its tradition of the A+ Arts Academy student newspaper. This class seeks to motivate students who want to take a lead role in furthering the excellence reputation of our school’s newspaper. This class will research, write, manage, sell subscriptions and advertising, and work collaboratively with the DTP/Y in order to print and publish our student newspaper.

Those students who are serious about writing and editing, researching and reporting the school news that is appropriate for our newspaper should sign up for this class. This is a great opportunity for young reporters and for those who enjoy writing, photography or graphic design. This is an excellent opportunity for A+ Arts Academy students to sign up for a class that is fun, challenging, creative and rewarding.

Physical Education

Our physical education program intends to prepare students to have a healthy and active lifestyle and for participation in social and lifetime activities by helping them acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to continue with these activities. In order for students to gain an appreciation for an active lifestyle, they will be provided with opportunities to explore through sports, fitness and other activities to discover how their bodies can move and to keep pace with today’s ever changing society.

We recognize our responsibility to educate the entire person and to provide the skills and attitudes necessary for self-improvements in physical fitness. Therefore, our mission is to provide students with a variety of experiences that will foster positive personal growth as well as a satisfying relationship with fitness. Our school curriculum meets the state requirements for physical education.


In an ever-changing interconnected world faced with global challenges & rising international competition, it is imperative that students develop a fundamental competence in the use and development of technology.

At A+ Arts Academy, students are offered the opportunity to learn, create, and participate in projects that use various computer hardware and software for homework, business, desktop publishing, web design, or even devise and invent robotics.

Although students have a natural interest in computers, A+ Arts Academy desires to inspire them in the significance and utilization of technological expertise in order to be a part of the continuing evolution and flow of information and discovery that will continue to make a mark in the 21st century and beyond.
